Dancewear,
Shoes and Grooming
Dancewear
CDC feels very strongly about having dancers in the proper dress to
show respect for the art of dance. All students must be in a CDC approved
leotard. Tan, black, or pink tights may be worn for all classes. Pink
tights are required for all ballet technique classes. Ballet skirts,
legwarmers, and "bootie" shorts are allowed with that class
instructor’s approval. Check with each instructor about preferences
before purchasing extra layers. Absolutely no t-shirts, baggy clothing
or jeans are allowed for a dance class. Students should get used to
the proper dress at an early age. Should a student arrive for class
with out proper attire, they will be asked to sit and observe class.
Shoes
All
dancers will be required to have proper shoes for each class. All shoes
can be purchased from CDC. Students will have to be in shoes selected
by the director for the recital.
Grooming
Hair should always be tied away from the face for every class. Bangs
should be pinned back or have a headband to keep them back. All students
are required to have a bun for ballet classes. No exceptions.
***These guidelines are expected to be respected each week. They are
taken very seriously. Leotard and tights, proper shoes and well groomed
hair are all part of a dancers uniform.
All Else....
Attendance
Each dance family needs to understand that this is a commitment for
not only you and your family, but to all the other dancers and their
families as well. We expect that dancers who join our studio will fulfill
the commitment from the beginning of the year to the end. Everyone should
know the schedule and be at class 10 minutes early each week. When class
time arrives, students should be changed, have used the restroom, have
shoes on and already have been stretching out. Not only does your child’s
progress come from being at class each week, but the choreography and
the group’s progress as well. It is extremely difficult for instructors
to week after week re-teach or re-choreograph dances due to dancers
not being at class. If a student has missed more than 3 classes at any
point in the year, private lessons may be scheduled to get your dancer
back on track before being invited back into regular classes. Private
lessons run $20 1/2 hour. Or, if there is a class that is comparable
to your child’s class, you may be able to make up any missed class
as a courtesy. If your dancer is not going to be able to make a class,
please call the studio (24 hours in advance if possible) so lesson plans
can be adjusted accordingly. Any student can be dropped from a class
due to excessive absences. The studio cannot jeopardize its responsibility
to the rest of the class due to one student.
Parents to Class
Parents are always allowed to watch class quietly in studio 1. There
should be no distractions or coaching from the parents. If siblings
accompany the parent(s), we request that parents bring them to the main
corridors downstairs to keep them occupied during the class hours. Parents
are always allowed to watch classes held in studio 2 through the two
way window. It is our mission to present a positive environment for
all dancers, families and guests. Any dancer, parent or guest that upsets
the peace and harmony of the studio will be dismissed from the studio
immediately for the remainder of the year.
Practice Music
All students will receive a practice tape/cd by February in order to
practice at home. This cost is included in the recital fee. A student
that will not be in the recital that would like a practice cd/tape may
purchase one for $8.00 by January.
Professional Pictures
Each class will have professional pictures taken in full costume(s)
a few weeks before the recital, tenatively scheduled for the week of
June 1-5th. Families are not required to purchase any pictures; however,
attendance is mandatory. Students dance together for the year and other
parents that purchase the pictures would love to have your dancer in
the photo. Plus, many dancers love to see themselves in the pictures
that are framed and on display at the studio during the next year.
Recital – End of
the Year Revue
Each student has the option of dancing in the end of the year show.
This is a fully staged and costumed show. This show has been traditionally
held the 2nd week in June. Instead of charging for all the extras individually,
we include them in the recital fee of $55 per family which is due by
November 8th. This fee is non-refundable. The fee includes: (1) recital
t-shirt, (1) trophy, a family practice tape/cd, and (2) recital tickets.
If there is more than one student per family, additional t-shirts, trophy,
and recital tickets can be purchased through the studio when the spring
end-of-the-year bulletin is distributed.
*Note ~ Flash photography is only
allowed on rehearsal day. CDC allows video taping if a taping pass of
$20 has been purchased. This will allow the additional rental of the
balcony for any one person per family to videotape and not disrupt any
other families that want to enjoy the show with out distractions.
All students in the recital will
be required to purchase costumes. Costume deposits are due according
to the following schedule: 1/3 of costume total amount due at registration,
balance due by November 6th so we can get the cutest costumes ordered
before they sell out. Any costumes not paid in full by the date the
studio orders costumes will not be ordered. Late orders will include
the additional shipping and processing fees to be paid by the family.
We can also not guarantee that your dancer’s costumes will be
here by pictures/recital. If your dancer does not have costumes they
will not be able to dance in the show. All costume fees include all
accessories and one pair of tights. Costume fees are as follows: One
costume class $60, Two costume class $120, and Three costume class $160
All costumes are ordered from costumes
companies. Measurements are taken at the beginning of the year are used
to follow a range of measurements for sizes. Any alterations that your
dancer’s costumes may need are the responsibility of the parent.
We have a studio seamstress that can do the alterations for you. You
may be charged a small fee for time/labor.
Parents are responsible for the care and
transportation of all dance costumes to rehearsal and the recital. All
students must be in appropriate costumes with tights, hair pieces and
shoes designated by the studio director for the show at rehearsal and
the recital. Dancers are required to be in theatrical stage make-up
for pictures, rehearsal and the recital. This is for all ages, pre-school
through adult. Make-up should be applied to highlight your dancer’s
features, and to ensure their faces are not washed out by the bright
lights.
Medical Limitation and
Liability
Any limitation must be noted on the studio registration form. Failure
to note a condition is a warranty by the parent that such a condition
does not exist. Parents must also sign a release form/waiver/contract
with the understanding that dance is a physical activity and as such,
there is an element of physical risk involved. This must be done before
any class at the studio is attended including any trial classes.
